Message from the President
April 1, 2020 in News

As we are all probably aware by now the IRFU as ended domestic rugby for this season due to the current pandemic crisis. While this decision is a huge disappointment to all involved we can only fully support this position in order to protect all participants in our game.
This unprecedented move means that all meetings and gatherings which includes our forth coming AGM must also be suspended until restrictions are lifted by the government. The implication here is that we will not be holding our area AGM’s nor our general AGM within 12 months of previous AGM’s.
Barry Armstrong our Honorary Secretary has been in contact with Stuart Bailey Honorary Secretary of the Leinster Branch to inform that the ARLB will be unable to meet our obligation under our constitution to hold our AGM and to elect a new Executive Committee for the coming 2020-2021 season.
Therefore the current Executive will remain in place in an acting capacity until we are able to hold an AGM. The Leinster Branch, who are the custodians of our constitution are fully supportive of our position. We wish to assure all members that as soon as restrictions are lifted we will organize our various AGM’s without delay.
Cutting short our season is of course a major disappointment to our active members, especially those who would be officiating in various cup and league finals. To all our active members we hope to recommence our activities as soon as possible so we can be fully ready to start the next season.
Our Acting Honorary Treasurer Keith Spendlove will be sending out an e-mail to remind all members to get their expenses up on the system before the end of April so that we can close out this season on this front.
As your president for the 2019-2020 season no one is more disappointed than I in the manner in which we find ourselves. However I am very proud of our association and wish to thank all our members for your support and hard work during the previous season. It has been an honor and a privilege to be elected your president for the past season and will continue to act until we can assemble our AGM.
If you have and queries or concerns please do not hesitate to contact our Honorary Secretary Barry Armstrong and he will be happy to reply. In conclusion I wish all of you and your families well during these difficult times and remind all to please follow the Government recommendations during the current pandemic emergency.
